We, the United Methodist Church of Hornell, aspire to be a world‑changing community, a people and a place that by the grace of God can and will make a difference.
We are a people of faith with a mission. We believe our lives and the lives of those around us will be better with God at its center. We believe we are called to be difference-makers in our community and the world at large. We believe our church extends beyond the walls of a building, and that our church is our people. We believe worship is not confined to an hour on Sunday morning, but is an everyday engagement of our lives. We believe our worship is alive when it is in service to God and our neighbors and that our worship of God takes place wherever and whenever two or more are gathered in His name – whether at a soup kitchen or a sanctuary.
We believe our neighbors are all the people we have yet to meet and may never meet as well as the people we know. We believe Jesus Christ calls us to create real solutions in people’s everyday lives. We are a servant community called out by God to do God’s will. We believe we are the Body of Christ, in community with all others striving to build God’s Kingdom here and now.
